Exeter City Programme NotesBy Matthew Flint, Tuesday 04 October 2005I can't have been the only York City fan to be cheering for Exeter during their recent cup games against Manchester United, as we all know what a good cup run can do for a club. It's ten years since City beat United 3-0 at Old Trafford, and City fan Phil Howden has remastered a DVD of the game. We're delighted that the first batch of 200 have been sold, and more have been produced. You can find Phil in the Club Shop this evening and the DVDs are priced at £12 each.
An Evening with Andy McMillan...

Andy McMillan and Graham Bradbury
Our guest at the September "An Evening With..." event was Andy McMillan. Andy was happy to chat about his playing career, as well as his new role at City coaching the Under 16's - many thanks to Andy, and to Graham Bradbury who acted as Master of Ceremonies. The winner of our September Draw, which costs £5 per month, was Tom Blackwell who is now £75 better off. Anyone may enter the draw at our monthly meetings, or speak to Ian Tyssen (
ian@yorkminstermen.org.uk or 07814143593) to sign up for the draw each month.
Player of the Month for September, as voted for by our members, is Mark Convery. Congratulations, Mark, on your excellent performances so far!
... and Colin Walker
The next meeting, on October 27th, is
"An Evening With Colin Walker". Colin is team coach for York City Reserves and brings bags of experience to KitKat Crescent. He played domestic football around Yorkshire, and scored 18 goals in 34 appearances for the New Zealand national side, before moving into coaching. Do try to join us on October 27th from 7pm. Non-members welcome!
October Quizzes
We'll be holding two quizzes in the Social Club in October: a
General Knowledge quiz on the 6th, and a
Music quiz on the 20th. Both events will start around 8:30pm, and the bar will be open from 7pm.
Summer Raffle
The York Minstermen Summer Raffle was drawn on Monday night. A full list of winners will be published in a future programme and
on our website. Congratulations to all of them! The profit of £3270 will go directly to York City Supporters' Trust, so thank-you to all those who took part and the many people who sold tickets on our behalf.
Can you help?
York Minstermen regularly staff the social club bar on non match days for reserve team games, fundraising nights, and other events. Last season's bar sales totalled £8000 at these events, and this season's figure has already reached £4000.
But we do need more people to help us. You don't need any previous experience, as we can train you. Please get in touch, either by
email or by post at the York City FC address shown inside the front cover of the programme. Your help would be very much appreciated!
