Golden Goal WinnerBy Ian Tyssen, Saturday 19 June 2010Julie Arthur, who has managed the York City FC Social Club for the last few years, was the lucky winner of the £41 prize on the Golden Goal competition for the England v Algeria game, in the Social Club.
Entrants paid £1 to draw a time during the game when they hoped that the first goal would be scored. If all times are sold, the prize would be £93 in this 'winner takes all' competition.
Julie drew the 'no goal scored' ticket and her disappointment at the result was slightly offset by her cash prize.
The competition returns on Wednesday, when the Social Club will be open for anyone wishing to watch the now crucial England v Slovenia game.
The Social Club will open at 1.30pm for the 3pm kick off. Jumbo Hot Dogs will also be on sale at £1.50 each - served at half time.
